New Year’s Guide: What To Wear & How To Stick To Your Resolutions

You know what sounds absolutely miserable to me? Being in an overly crowded place, paying way too much for a “champagne toast and light hors d’oeuvres”, all while forcing myself to have fun so that my night will live up to the NYE hype (spoiler: it won’t). And let’s not forget about the inevitable hangover because – such an inspiring way to start the new year!

If I had it my way, my ideal New Year’s Eve would be in a cabin, in comfy clothes, with close friends, drinking red wine on a couch. Or I would want to go on a warm vacation, maybe Mexico, tropical vibes, ya know? I will say though, I do love a good NYE outfit, so that is like the only thing New Year’s has going for it. Here’s what I’m currently eyeing:

NEW YEAR's Looks

SHOP THE LOOKS:
#1 black jumpsuit, #2 multicolored dress, #3 disco pants , #4 leather dress, #5 black long sleeve, #6 sheer sparkle dress, #7 fringe handbag

My Thoughts On New Year’s Resolutions…

Don’t get me wrong, although I think NYE is kind of the worst holiday, I’m all for setting intentions, getting rid of bad vibes and starting fresh. New Year’s is a great way to get yourself back on track and create goals for yourself. But, I also know that a 10-second countdown to midnight is not a magic restart button. I don’t like to restrict myself and think that this is the only point of the year where I can focus on growth and improvements. It has to be a conscious effort throughout the year to really achieve your goals.

That being said, my tip is to create smaller weekly goals and intentions for the month to focus on, instead of creating unrealistic expectations for the entire year. Also, remember all the wins you had throughout the year! Don’t forget to reflect back on everything that you have accomplished in the last year, not just what you need to improve on.

3 Tips On How To Stick To Your Resolutions

1. Get Specific – Clearly define your goals and get specific with how you can achieve them. Start small and build off of that. Adjust as you go based on what is working for you.

For example, my goal is to gain back 10 (healthy) pounds since I lost so much weight recovering from my surgeries. I’m breaking that down to daily goals of aiming for about 3,000 calories and 70 grams of protein each day. With two days a week of weight training to gain back my muscle. If I hit my daily and weekly goals, eventually I’ll achieve my main goal. (Okay, I knowwww wanting to gain weight may not be the most relatable thing, but the point is get super specific on what you need to do in order to make your resolution happen.)

2. Keep Track Of Your Progress – It will help keep you motivated to keep going through with it. You’ll be able to look back at where you were when you first started and the progress you have made. It is also a good way to identify if something is not working for you and if you need to adjust.

3. Don’t Be Too Hard On Yourself – So maybe you didn’t hit all of your goals one week, it’s okay. Give yourself some slack and don’t let a slip-up keep you from following through with your original goal. Don’t give up if you don’t see a changes right away, it takes time. Stay patient with yourself. You’ve got this!
